my achy back* and i had the pleasure of spending a few lovely days in cambridge with my mom and dad this week. it was an even more luxurious visit than usual: my dad took me to a boston vegetarian society pre-valentine's day dinner at veggie planet on monday night, a multi-course feast prepared by an extremely young chef. the highlights included chili-spiced almonds; a very tasty potato croquette topped with delicious things including frizzled leeks; and a scrumptious vegan tiramisu for dessert. i also got two massages from my mom the massage therapist, and she sent me home with a heating pad, instructions for back stretches, and an aston pillow of my very own, which i'm supposed to sit upon whilst i sew (and type -- i'm sitting on it now!). lulu was also a fine hostess, as usual.
*probably you haven't heard much about my achy back, being as i'm so stoic and all. "achy" is not really the accurate word -- either my back feels "fine," or it goes into spasms of pain at just about any movement, causing me to moan "owie, owie, owie!" it's on my list of my least favorite physical symptoms of turning 40.
