the red kitchen

how i wish i'd made this beautiful cake, but i just found the picture at a great food blog called the red kitchen. i think all of you food lovers will like it! i was musing over the birchmuesli natasha's used to serve, back when they did brunch, and i searched for a recipe that might come close to duplicating it. mmmm, i think i found it.

I'm a little disappointed that this cake is not available at a Portland restaurant! But it does look very good. Alison just left after 4 days here, and she cooked up a storm, the last two things being a tomato pie and zucchini fritters. And she made a Martha Stewart lemon pudding for my dad. Peter is quite a fan of muesli, so I think I'm going to try the recipe in your link. Merci!

oh, janet! perhaps someone will make you a cake like this for a belated birthday present!!! you know, sort of an, "oh my gosh, i let your birthday slip by with nary a word, whereas last year i found you a fabulous gift, and i feel so bad about it!" kind of present...

Don't you worry yore purty little head, Lizzie Lou! My birthday came and went and it was just fine. I love Rabbit, and he can count for several birthdays, and I haven't even quite spent all of my CBB gc yet. My dad's condition has interfered with my friendships this year, I think, and this wasn't a decade birthday or anything, so it wasn't a big deal. Also, the excitement of shopping at Milo is a birthday present in itself!
